The outgrowth of a retrospective exhibition touring Austria and Germany, this book sets out to encompass the short but highly original and prominent career of the Cuban-born American artist Gonzalez-Torres (1957-96). The first volume presents six essays, in both German and English, from the curators of various museums as well as his gallerist. Competent, if not always engaging, the writers concentrate on history of nearly 300 works and also documents the current owners of most items as well as their provenance.
