Real Presences. Marcel Broodthaers Today

Marcel Broodthaers has been one of the greatest inspirations to the following generation of artists. This book shows current work by internationally renowned artists, in which loose connections to particular Broodthaers motifs are not in the foreground, but rather the forward projection of those ideas and questions, often understood as homage, which make Broodthaers’ work still appear alive and topical today. The ongoing influence of Marcel Broodthaers (1924-1976) has extended itself to video art, Relational Aesthetics and text art of all kinds. This volume assesses that multifarious influence, in works by Tacita Dean, Olivier Foulon, Andreas Hofer, Henrik Olesen, Kirsten Pieroth, Stephen Prina, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Joėlle Tuerlincks, Susanne M. Winterling and Cerith Wyn Evans.

Text: Jansen Gregor, Broodthaers Marcel. pp. 228; paperback. Publisher: Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln, 2011.
