Product Description
Image Counter Image looks at artistic explorations of the media’s representation of conflict over the past two decades. Beginning with the first Gulf War, and ending with the Arab Spring events of 2011, Image Counter Image examines how media coverage has changed, particularly through the impact of the internet and the growing use of social media, as the parameters of reportage expand to incorporate direct peer-to-peer dialogue and exchange. The work of the artist differs from that of the reporting journalist, yet is concerned with similar questions of credibility, transparency and topicality. The artists contributing to Image Counter Image are Nin Brudermann, Bureau d’études, Harun Farocki, Omer Fast, hans-Peter Feldmann, Monika Huber, Alfred Jaar, Adela Jusic, Langlands & Bell, Radenko Milak, Trevor Paglen, Thomas Ruff, Roy Samaha, Wilhelm Sasnal, Ahlam Shibli, John Smith, Sean Snyder, Thomson & Craighead and Jasmila Zbanic.
