Tohoku: Tatsuki Masaru

In 2011, the largest earthquake in Japan’s modern history struck the region of Tohoku on Honshu and washed away many fishing villages. Japanese photographer Tatsuki Masaru captured the customs, rituals, landscapes and lives of those living in small villages such as Aomori, Miyagi and Fukushima before the earthquake. Part of the profits of the book will be donated to relief efforts. Essay contribution by Akasaka Norio.
