Industrial Art. Objects, play and thought in Danese production

…To synthetically state the thesis of this book: “the objective of design is the realization of an artistic quality of the project, both in small and in large series. “Danese, having in many cases succeded in achieving this quality, is in this sense interesting and deserves thorough analysis. The book is therefore divided into two clear parts; the first – the essay “Art, industry and Craftsmanship” – attempts to delineate some central themes: relationships between artistic culture and planning, between commission and designer, the use of different methods of production (from the artisan to the industrial). The second part examines the three sectors of Danese activity, (Art Editions, Children’s Editions, Products for the home and for the office), with a more thorough analysis of a group of objects and the specific and more general problems associated with them. (Stefano Casciani)
