Asser drew upon the Dutch fine art tradition of still lifes, townscapes, and self- portraiture and in later years invented a process which enabled photographs to be printed from a lithographic stone. This classical documentation and impeccable presentation of his photographic legacy includes 15 daguerreotypes and two hundred paper photographs.
